This blog has been a half-written chronicle of my previous two adventures to check out what God is doing in Brasil.
Now, be prepared for something different. This time, I plan to update it at least bi-weekly with snippets from what is going on. Of course there will be photos and maybe even recipes or something fun! I had someone ask to follow this blog today, and I'm very honored and humbled that someone outside my family, friends, and church family is interested in the story God is going to be writing with a pen named Mindi for the next two years. The story isn't mine: I'm just the broken, weak, tool God has fixed up and chosen to write with.
Many of you have invested so generously (financially and with your time in prayer) in what God has called me to do. Maybe you've partnered in the Gospel in these ways since day one in 2011. Thank you especially. But for those who are new contributors, or just reading, may our God richly bless you for your time and energy reading this and for your support in prayer and deed. You aren't just throwing money at something- you're answering God's call to go to Brasil. Sure, you're not packing your bags and jumping on a plane with me, but you're just as much involved as I am in this ministry. Thank you.
Let me take a moment to say I'm blown away at the support that's been raised financially. I've reached 76% of my fundraising goal. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you've not received a support letter and you want to give, please reply to this post with your name and email address!
Secondly, I'm getting excited! Departure will hopefully be by the end of August. My visa paperwork hasn't all gone through right yet, but I'm confident it will! My last week of work is next week. I've had a blessed year of working alongside Catholic Charities to show hope, grace, an compassion to families hurting after Oklahoma's May 2013 disasters. If you ever need a job in the social services field I highly recommend working for Catholic Charities. They treat their employees amazingly well and it's good, Christ-centered work.
So stay tuned. For the next couple of weeks I'll be very busy packing to move to Missouri to my parent's house before I make the leap down to the South American continent.
Thanks for following! I love you all!
“I will not enter my house or get into my bed, I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids, until I find a place for the Lord, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.” -(Psalm 132:3-5)
